Central Iowa Knitters

The next Central Iowa Knitters monthly meeting will be held Tuesday June 1st @ 7pm at our regular meeting location, Valley Church on Fuller Road in West Des Moines. We will have a busy meeting with a presentation on knitting for the State Fair by guest Dorothy Faidley, Superintendent of the Fabric and Threads Department of the Iowa State Fair, as well as officer elections and, of course, time for show-and-tell for you to share your latest knitting creations. Hope to see you there!

p.s. Don’t forget ticket orders for the July 6th I-Cubs game are due by June 16th. Save a stamp (or a trip to a board member’s house) and sign up at the June meeting. Tickets are $6/person. Barb Kraemer will distribute tickets the week before the game.

The next Central Iowa Knitters monthly meeting will be held Tuesday February 2nd at our regular meeting location, Valley Church on Fuller Road in West Des Moines. We will have a preview of winter retreat classes and, of course, time for show-and-tell for you to share your latest knitting creations. Hope to see you there!

The next Central Iowa Knitters meeting will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, December 1st, 2009. Note the time change! The program will be our annual Charity Tea. Bring an appetizer or dessert to share; a variety of teas will be provided. There will be numerous door prizes for attendees and an optional Secret Santa gift exchange (knitting-related gift valued less than $15). We will collect items you’ve made for charity – particularly items made for the House of Mercy in memory of Shirley using the yarn donated by the Sons of St Patrick. Looking forward to seeing you there!

You may notice a new look around this website. CIK has changed web service providers and the move necessitated a new look to the site!

Don’t forget to join us this Tuesday, November 3rd at 7pm at our regular meeting location in Valley Church. The program for the night will be finishing the Warm Up America quilt joining. Please bring a yarn needle and/or crochet hook to help join the knitted squares. If you took home squares to block, please remember to bring them back with you!

The next CIK meeting will be held at 7pm on September 1, 2009 at Valley Church (4343 Fuller Road). It’s CIK’s 4th birthday and we’re going to celebrate!  Don’t forget to bring your state fair entries (and ribbons they may have won!) and any other knitting you’ve been working on for show-and-tell.  Hope to see you there!

We are back in our regular room on the west side of the building, in the room at the bottom of the exterior brick stairs. Carmen will help us review our 2009 knitting resolutions and, of course, there’s always time for some show-and-tell. Please join us!

The next CIK meeting will be at 7pm on March 3, 2009 at Valley Church (4343 Fuller Road, West Des Moines).  Feature presentation will be colorworking by member Erin Mumm.  We will also discuss a group charity project in memory of Shirley Hansen and, as always, have a show-and-tell session.

Note: Our meeting room is different for this month.  We will meet in Room C3 instead of our regular room.  Enter the church building through the main entrance and go downstairs. You’ll take a left at the bottom of the steps and go to the end of the hall. The room we are meeting in is at the end of the hall on the right. You’ll have to take a right at the end of the hall to get to the entrance.

The next CIK meeting will be held at 7:00pm on February 3, 2009 at Valley Church (4343 Fuller Road). We are going to review our Warm-Up America spirit!  A square with a heart motif designed by Robin will be distributed to attendees (members have already received a copy in the February newsletter).  There will also be a recap of the retreat, so show us what you have learned, as well as other goodies for show and tell.
