May 2012 CIK Meeting

Tomorrow marks the start of a new month – and the first Tuesday of the month – which means it’s time for another Central Iowa Knitters monthly meeting!

When: Tuesday, May 1st @ 7:00pm

Where: Gloria Dei Church in Urbandale (corner of 86th and Aurora) in Room 130/132 (enter through the Family Life Center).

One item of business to attend to is the nomination of officers for next year (elections typically occur at the June meeting). Did you participate in the Central Iowa Knit Shop Hop? Tell us about your “shop hop” adventures!

May 1st is also the first day for electronic entries to the state fair. Have you decided what knitting categories you are going to try this year? The entry deadline is July 1!

Charity Knit Together Opportunity

The 4th Annual Give Care * Warmth * Art event is Monday, January 16th – coinciding with the 2012 National Day of Service on Martin Luther King Day. Knitters are invited to sit and knit at the Urbandale Library from 9am to 2pm. Handmade scarves, hats, baby blankets, and other items (including canned food and monetary donations) may be donated and will go to Urbandale Food Pantry recipients. 2011 Christmas Charity Tea

The annual Central Iowa Knitters Christmas Charity Tea is just a few weeks away! While you are enjoying the post-Thanksgiving sales, why don’t you look for a gift for the gift exchange ($15 or less; repurposed stash items are always great gifts, too!)?

Join us on December 6th at 7pm at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (room 130/132 – enter through the Family Life Center). Bring an appetizer or dessert to share, any completed charity knitting you wish to donate, and a gift for the gift exchange (optional). The CIK Board will provide hot tea and door prizes!

Where did October go? Once you’re done packing away the halloween costumes and taking down the fake tombstones and spiderwebs, head over to the Central Iowa Knitters meeting – Tuesday, November 1st @7pm at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Meetings on the first of the month always seem to sneak up on you! See you there!

Join us at 7pm TONIGHT (Tuesday, September 6th) for CIK’s monthly meeting. Remember we are meeting at Gloria Dei Church in Urbandale (corner of 86th and Aurora) in Room 130/132 (enter through the Family Life Center).

There is no official program, but it is CIK’s birthday! Bring your knitting, your charitable donations, and your show-and-tell (any State Fair knitting to share?). See you there!

The May CIK meeting is Monday, May 9th at 7pm at Valley Church. We’ll have nominations for officers and a demo on knitting with plastic grocery bags by Erin Mumm. To participate in the demo, bring a pair of scissors, bags, and large knitting needles. See you there!
